Theosophy: the study of the wisdom underlying all the world's great religions and philosophies
An open, non-dogmatic community in Perth dedicated to comparative religion, philosophy, and science — and to the exploration of the deeper nature of the human being. All sincere seekers are welcome.
Coming Up
Dara Tatray
An outline of the core treatise on Raja Yoga, focusing especially on the way in which Patañjali treats the mental processes that stand in the way of awareness and freedom. The Yoga Sutras provide us with the nuts and bolts of the religious life in a uniquely practical way, largely applicable to all faiths concerned with suffering and salvation.
Samgiita
Approaching dementia not only as a neurological condition, but as a deeply human and psychospiritual experience that invites us to reflect on identity, consciousness, and what endures beyond memory. Drawing from contemplative traditions and the Vedic vision of transcendence, we consider the possibility that our essential being exists beyond the fluctuations of the mind.
Fortnightly
Small, informal groups meeting fortnightly to study and discuss theosophical texts and ideas. Some groups are open to all; others are for members. Contact us for details.
Our Purpose
The Society has pursued three interconnected aims since its founding — each one as relevant today as when the Society was first established in Perth.
To form a nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity — without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, or colour.
To encourage the comparative study of religion, philosophy, and science, drawing on the wisdom of all great traditions.
To investigate the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent within the human being.
Join Us
Our programs are open to the public. Non-members are welcome to attend up to four meetings before deciding whether to join the Society.
A member-led or guest talk exploring theosophical themes, comparative religion, philosophy, and esoteric science.
Structured study courses and small-group discussions running throughout the year on a variety of subjects.
Immersive weekend programs at the Mt Helena Retreat Centre — a quiet bushland setting suited to deeper study and reflection.
Low-cost National HQ study courses available to members who wish to pursue independent study at their own pace.
On Site
Our on-site library holds one of the most comprehensive theosophical collections in Australia — including rare volumes, original journals, and texts dating back to the late 19th century. Open to all during office hours.
